What we do

AAEE NSW runs a number of programs, activities and events for environmental educators.

Our Nature and Place Education program is a small Environmental Trust grant-funded program aimed at building the capacity of NSW environmental educator networks to develop communities of practice, improve their knowledge and skills, and run collaborative and innovative nature and place-based education projects in their regions.

The NSW Environmental Education Conference is held biannually, bringing together educators from all sectors to explore current themes and issues in environmental education.

Awards and Scholarships

The NSW Environmental Educator of the Year Awards recognise outstanding individuals who raise the level of environmental awareness in the community, and provide leadership, innovation and inspiration to others.

The Gould League scholarship is awarded annually to help support a student or teacher to attend the AAEE conference or an equivalent learning event.

‘Make the Change’ framework

AAEE NSW has partnered with the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage to develop an Education for Sustainability vision, agenda and advisory process for NSW called Make the Change: A framework for education and engagement for environmental sustainability 2014-2021.

AAEE NSW makes submissions relating to the environment and environmental education on behalf of its members.

We also support environmental educators in NSW schools with relevant resources and professional development opportunities, and encourage participation in local green teacher networks.
