More information:

Birds in Backyards is a sustainability education program that has been engaging communities for the last ten years, encouraging people to “share their spaces with birds”. Many Environmental Education programs are never evaluated, or are evaluated in a simple form. In 2009, we were awarded a NSW Environmental Trust grant to fund a thorough evaluation of the effectiveness of the program in terms of improving public education. We invite you to attend one of our workshops and discover: how we carried out this evaluation, how you can evaluate your own projects and measure their effectiveness, and how our findings and experiences can be applied to your projects.

Workshop Agenda:

  • Presentation of results of our 18 month evaluation project: “Does biodiversity education work? A case study using urban birds”
  • Discussion of how the results of this study relate to you and your professional activities
  • Guided tour of the newly updated Birds in Backyards website by Program Manager, Dr Holly Parsons
  • Plans for 2012 – where to from here?
